Houghton lodge
Houghton Lodge has half a mile on one of the main carriers of The River Test. The estate takes pride in trying to provide some of the best fishing on this beautiful and famous river.
The beat has its own fishing hut and private car parking. It is beautifully kept, with good casting and little obstruction on the river bank, so perfect for those starting out. The fishing is mainly brown trout with some grayling and occasional rainbow trout; fishermen may keep a brace of fish if they require. Glorious Game can organise a hamper lunch or on the bank catering, including BBQ cooked on site, please contact for prices.
The main season runs from the 1st May – 15th October and in the winter grayling and pike fishing is also available upon request. Upstream dry fly only until 30th June, and thereafter an unweighted upstream nymph may be used. Wading is not permitted and unnecessary!
If you wish to take fish home any fish caught the estate asks if you could limit yourself to 1 and 1/2 brace per day. Please return any fish under 2 lbs.
