RIVER ANTON PRIVATE ESTATE
The Anton is a classic Hampshire chalk stream and is one of the four main tributaries to the famous River Test. With access to to four beats on this very Private estate it is one of the hidden gems of the southern chalk streams. The river rises north of the town of Andover and flows south through the villages through various village before reaching the river Test at Chilbolton.
The four beats are well managed with the easiest for casting being beat four, the other beats do have over hanging trees to challenge the fisherman. The Anton is known for its prolific fly life and holds some very large wild brown trout and grayling.
The main season runs from the mid April – to the beginning of October. Upstream dry fly only until 30th June, and thereafter an unweighted upstream nymph may be used.
If you wish to take fish home any fish caught the estate asks if you could limit yourself to 1 and 1/2 brace per day. Please return any fish under 2 lbs.
Wading is only allowed on the Anton where both banks belong to the estate, beats 4, 5 and 6 only, please check if unsure.
